Manama, Bahrain — Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain Detachment Dubai hosted an Industry Day for all local businesses and contractors on October 19, 2023. Dubai is responsible for providing repairs, modifications, maintenance, supplies, and services in support of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR). This Industry Day focused on mission partners who can provide services and supplies to the UAE ports, particularly Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Khalifa and Zayed ports.
The purpose of Industry Day is to provide marine repair contractors interested in doing business with the U.S. Navy with an overview of logistical support, marine and nautical repair availability, contract summaries, basics and general information. Increasing vendor awareness and participation in ship maintenance and repair services will help keep the 5th Fleet equipped for continued mission readiness.
Industry Day provides critical information for emerging and established companies with the U.S. government and federal contracting process, specifically aimed at increasing awareness of opportunities in vessel repair and maintenance. NAVSUP FLC Bahrain’s contracting representatives provided an overview of how they do business with the U.S. government and explained the different contract types. NAVSUP FLC Bahrain is responsible for contracting with and managing shipyards for the repair and maintenance of U.S. vessels homeported and deployed within the 5th Fleet AOR.
Featured speakers at the event included NAVSUP FLC Bahrain Commander Col. Alexander D. Wallace III, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain Contracts Director Mr. Richard Bauer, Mr. Jeffrey Gamboa, and Mrs. Cheryl Genesiran Paulino. The event began with a welcome from Captain Wallace.
