At one point this season, Eagles receiver AJ Brown set an NFL record with six consecutive games of 125 or more receiving yards. Things aren’t going very well at the moment.
Brown has only reached 100 yards in one of eight games since the streak ended. In Sunday’s 35-31 loss to the Cardinals, he had four catches for 53 yards.
On Monday, coach Nick Sirianni was asked if he knew why Brown was “frustrated and upset.”
“Of course I don’t want to speak for him,” Sirianni said. “But, you know, when you have a dynamic playmaker like AJ, he’s always going to want to change the game, and he can always do that.
“Again, I don’t want to speak for him, but obviously we’re all frustrated. We’re all frustrated right now, especially from yesterday’s loss. And just have fun and have fun. You want to be able to do all these things that football brings, but when you’re stuck in a rut like we are, it can be hard to enjoy and find the fun.
“But he’s always going to want to change the game because he knows he’s capable and that’s why he’s a playmaker. I know this, and I I’ve said this to you on and off the record, everything, everything, there’s no one better as a teammate. There’s no one better than AJ and Shoot, and he’s one of our best players. And he’s also one of the best players in the last three years that I’ve been here. I can’t say enough about him. I think we’re all frustrated, but again, I’m I don’t want to speak for him on anything.”
Some people think a good receiver who wants the ball is selfish. Many people accurately believe that having the ball in their hands will help their team win the game.
The Eagles have now lost four of their five games. They are limping into the playoffs. They probably won’t even win the district championship and will have no choice but to start the playoffs.
