Nitrocross is taking a break from racing at Wild Horse Pass in Phoenix and has announced its 2023-2024 schedule. The schedule features the return of five tracks and the new addition of Richmond Raceway as the season opener on September 7-8, 2024.
The Richmond race is the only new market on next season’s schedule, but it highlights the series’ commitment to innovation. Taking a page from other sports such as super motocross, the deal calls for a temporary course to be built in the infield of the track made famous by NASCAR events, in what is known as a multi-year deal.
“The construction of these trucks has become so efficient that it will probably be a 10-12 day build,” said series creator Travis Pastrana. “Richmond already has so many great resources and assets. We’re going to bring dirt into the facility. We like the hybrid of dirt and pavement. Once we’re done with that, we’ll probably have 50/50 dirt and pavement. It will be.”
From Richmond, the series heads to Utah Motorsports Campus in Salt Lake City on October 4-5.
The decision to return the majority of next year’s schedule to venues is strategic as a way to capitalize on the excitement already occurring in these markets.
This is also our way of giving back to the fans who have supported the series.
“We’re going back to an event that works, but more than that, it’s also a little bit of give back to our fans who believed in us when this first started,” Nitrocross General Manager Chip Pankow said. Told. “They put their hard-earned money into buying tickets, so we want to reward that. Event growth is very important to us. We’re here in Phoenix We’re back and we had an incredible crowd on Friday night.”
Additionally, heritage dates are important to fans.
Chase Elliott remained in the Phoenix area in November 2022, gaining rally racing experience and drawing many new fans to the sport. They didn’t return this year, but at the press conference Pastrana spoke about a group of sisters who first appeared last year, two of whom were Elliott fans. They have become fans of the sport and brought their other two sisters along this year.
Glen Helen Raceway (January 11-12, 2025) and Calgary Stampede (January 31-February 1, 2025) make up the next two rounds.
Last month, Las Vegas was announced as the final game of the 2023-2024 season. The 2025 season will serve the same function with a course being constructed on the Las Vegas Strip from February 28 to March 1, 2025.
