An online platform has been set up for healthcare workers to submit information about infectious diseases.
This epidemiological surveillance platform aims to strengthen the surveillance of infectious diseases in Bahrain and take effective measures to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases.
“The new platform will allow health professionals to quickly and easily report infectious diseases, and will also enable government and private health facilities to communicate with the Public Health Directorate (PHD) about infectious diseases detected in these facilities. We will be able to connect the two countries,” said Dr. Mohamed Al Awadi, Director of PHD. .
He added that around 80 health facilities, including clinics and hospitals, have been trained and provided with special electronic login keys to easily report infections.
According to the Ministry of Health’s guidelines on infectious disease surveillance and control, healthcare workers must report Group A illnesses within 24 hours. These diseases include measles, tetanus, AIDS, HIV, cholera, typhoid fever, and rabies.
Diseases listed in Group B and Group C that are reported within a week include scabies, chickenpox, malaria, syphilis, and influenza.
Group D covers zoonotic diseases known as zoonoses. These are infectious diseases that can be transmitted from infected animals to humans. These diseases are often caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi when people come into contact with affected animals or their habitat. Rabies, Lyme disease, and COVID-19 are all examples of zoonotic diseases. Prevention of zoonotic diseases often requires practicing good hygiene, avoiding contact with wild animals, and properly preparing and handling animal products.
Earlier, the ministry launched healthalert.gov.bh, an official platform for disseminating the latest health information and developments in Bahrain.
In addition to the national efforts aimed at promoting public health across Bahrain, this website provides important information and updates during the COVID-19 pandemic and promotes health awareness among all members of society. infiltrated.
