The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Breland is the nation’s No. 36 prospect and No. 5 defenseman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 industry rankings (a weighted average using all four major recruiting media companies). He’s a lineman. He is also California’s No. 3 player.
Breland’s current On3 NIL valuation is $159,000. On3 NIL Valuation is the industry-leading metric that sets the projected annual value (PAV) for high school and college athletes. NIL valuation does not track the value of her NIL transactions that an athlete has completed to date. Rather, it refers to an athlete’s value at a given point in time.
Aydin Breland Scouting Overview
Charles Power, On3’s director of scouting and rankings, wrote of the prospect Breland:
“A pass-rushing defensive lineman with rare movement skills for his size. In the offseason before his senior season, he was approximately 6-foot-4, 320 pounds. At the position with arms over 33 inches. Good length. Naturally large, his weight fluctuated between 280 and 320 pounds for most of his high school career. Usually lined up as a defensive end for Southern California powerhouse Mater Dei. Much smaller players. Moves like: Pushes the pocket with speed and power. Throws offensive tackles into the backfield upon contact.
“Has the strength to stack and run linemen and make plays against the run. Tracks down plays with his remarkable pursuit athleticism. Punishes offenders who leave him unblocked. He also competes in track and field, posting a personal best throw of 46-6 feet in the shot put as a sophomore. Works as a rotational player for Mater Dei, but is currently not as productive as most other good defensive linemen. He’s not expensive. He finished his junior season with 24 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks. He’s an older player in terms of seasons, and he’ll be 19 in January of his senior year.”
