No. 22 Oklahoma (5-2) lost its second straight game to No. 19 Tennessee (4-2) 76-73 at tipoff in Fort Myers on Saturday.
Freshman forward Sahara Williams had a team-high 16 points and eight rebounds.
OU shot 36% from the field and 26% from 3-point range, a slight improvement from their last game against Princeton, but still short of their season averages. OU previously averaged nearly 90 points per game and his 3-point shooting accuracy was 49%.
The Sooners fell behind early after the Voluntese opened the game with an 8-0 run. Thanks in part to junior guard Peyton Verhulst, who scored nine points in the first quarter, OU ended the quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 20-18 lead.
OU lost momentum with a three-minute drought in the second quarter, giving Tennessee a 6-0 lead. After the referees took a timeout to correct a play-clock error, the Sooners rallied with an 11-2 run to take a 38-32 lead into halftime.
The Vols made an explosive comeback in the second half and caught up with the Sooners. OU was in foul trouble for most of the first half, but Tennessee took advantage by making 75 percent of his free throws. Volante also shot 37% from the field.
Oklahoma State will then return home to face Grambling (3-3) in Norman on Dec. 1 on ESPN+.
