ADRIAN — Science and technology will be on display this weekend as PlaneWave Instruments hosts its annual open house and science exhibit, “Shoot for the Stars.”
The Telescope Company, located at 1375 N. Main St. in Adrian, will open its doors to the community on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“This event provides an opportunity for people of all ages to learn and share their passion for science in a fun and exciting environment,” the news release said.
Activities such as interactive exhibits and campus tours include:
- PlaneWave product lineup.
- Create a craft activity.
- laser communication
- Student Institute for Astronomy (InStAR).
- Meridian Machine Shop.
- Solar system walk.
- Robotics.
- telescope mount.
- density of the planet.
- solar telescope.
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
- Stomprocket.
- Above Pete’s Garage Audio/Video Mentoring.
- Star party only on Saturday night.
Tent talks during the event will feature InStAR and PlaneWave experts, and on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., University of Toledo astronomy professor Tom Megias will speak about his research using the James Webb Space Telescope.
Mini Donuts n More, Little Grasshopper and Tecumseh Brewing Co. food trucks will be on campus.
Parking will be located on PlainWave’s campus and will be accessed from East Drive on the south side of Curtis Road, PlainWave special projects consultant Chris Miller said in an email. Vehicles are parked on the lawn in the northeast corner of campus, and handicap parking is available in the parking lot just east of the old school building. Entrance to the campus will be from Curtis Road rather than Main Street, Miller said. Signs direct drivers where to park.
