Car registrations in Portugal increased by 27.8% by November compared to the same period last year, with 215,220 new cars registered by legal representatives of brands active on the domestic market.
According to data published by the Portuguese Automobile Association (cap) The number of registered vehicles in November was 19,439, a 1% decrease from the same month in 2019, but a 9.8% increase compared to November 2022.
By category, the number of new passenger car registrations in November was 15,769, a decrease of 4.2% compared to the same month in 2019, but the market increased by 2.7% compared to November last year.
Overall, the number of passenger car registrations from January to November 2023 reached a total of 182,988 units, a negative change of 11.6% compared to the same period in 2019. Compared to 2022, the market increased by 28.6%.
Regarding the light commercial vehicle market, the number of registrations in November 2023 was 2,606, a decrease of 9.4% compared to the same month in 2019. However, when compared to the same month in 2022, there was an increase of 54.5%.
Cumulatively, the market reached 25,218 units, a decrease of 25.9% compared to the same period in 2019 and an increase of 22.5% compared to 2022.
The large vehicle market, which includes passenger cars and cargo vehicles, increased by 254.7% in November compared to the same month in 2019, with 1,064 vehicles in this category sold. Compared to the same month of 2022, the market he increased by 60.5%.
From January to November 2023, the number of registrations in this category reached 7,014 units, an increase of 28.4% in the market compared to the same period in 2019 and an increase of 26.6% compared to 2022.
