STEUBENVILLE — The Catholic Central men’s basketball team started its season with a 62-46 win over rival Toronto on Friday night.
Three Crusaders reached double digits to lead the way.
Benji Luke led the way with 19 points, followed by Daniel Bolster with 12 points and Tommy Pergi with 11 points.
They took a big early lead in Central’s opener, outscoring the Red Knights 20-4 in the first quarter and held the lead from there.
Toronto was led by Cam Baker with 11 players and Michael Henry with 10 players.
Edison boys open season with victory
RICHMOND — The Edison men’s basketball team started its season with a 49-39 victory over Conoton Valley on Friday night.
J.D. Henderson led the Cats with 22 points, followed by Bryce Rogers with nine points and Jackson McBain with six points. The Wildcats return to action Tuesday at Catholic Central.

WELLSBURG — The Weir High School bowling team defeated the Brook Bruins Friday afternoon at Brook Lanes, 10:05 p.m., 5:30 p.m.
Leading the way was senior Shane Arnold with 248 games and 462 series, followed by Jackson Parsons with 246 games and 436 series.
For Brooke, Darin Hilton led the way with 182 and 306.
