President Sheikh Mohammed and Bahrain’s King Hamad renewed their call for a peaceful resolution to the Israel-Gaza war during high-level talks in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The two leaders, speaking at the UAE residence of the Bahraini monarch, highlighted the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and stressed the need to achieve security and stability in the region, state news agency Wam reported.
Israeli artillery shelling in the Gaza Strip in retaliation for the October 7 Hamas attack killed about 5,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians.
The joint message from Sheikh Mohammed and King Hamad came after Presidential Foreign Affairs Adviser Dr. Anwar Gargash appealed for “solidarity of humanity” as the deadly conflict escalates.
“Given the current situation in Gaza and the region, human solidarity and political wisdom are essential as the main tools in a battle that threatens the entire region,” Dr. Gargash wrote on X (formerly Twitter) .
“Defending our homeland and its achievements remains our highest duty.”
Sheikh Mohammed and King Hamad also reviewed the deep-rooted ties of fraternity that bind the Emirates and Bahrain.
The two leaders spoke of their commitment to further strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Gulf countries and contribute to their mutual interests.
The two meet regularly in both the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to strengthen the long-standing partnership between the allies.
