The Chiefs may be without Jalen Ramsey in the secondary, but the players they have were more than capable of handling Ja’Marr Chase and the Bengals on Sunday afternoon.
Chase said this week that there wasn’t “that much” that stood out about the Chiefs’ defensive backs because “we don’t have Jalen Ramsey on our team.” Chase said he wasn’t concerned about “adding fuel to the fire” with his comments during a first-half shoving match with cornerback Rajarius Sneed and others.
Both teams had individual fouls that ended with the Bengals scoring a touchdown to take a 17-7 lead, but the Chiefs scored the final 18 points of the game to clinch the AFC West championship and eliminate the Bengals from playoff contention. Chase had three catches for 41 yards in the 25-17 loss, but when discussing Snead after the game, he said, “My mom won’t fight me.”
It was a wise move by Snead not to take advantage of that bait, and his own postgame comments centered on the limited impact Chase was able to have on the game.
“we there were some words during the game,” Snead said via Blair Kerkoff. kansas city star. “But check the statistics.”
The Bengals needed to back up Chase’s words to keep their playoff hopes alive. But he can’t do that, and as a result, the Chiefs are the team that returns to the postseason.
