A 35-year-old man, an accused in a rape case registered in Ludhiana, Punjab, allegedly escaped from custody after he was arrested on arrival at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport from Bahrain, the issue said. officials familiar with the matter announced on Monday.

According to the FIR, immigration officials said Singh arrived at the Delhi airport from Bahrain on December 20 and was detained after it was discovered that a Lookout Notice (LOC) had been issued against him. Singh was wanted in a rape case registered under IPC section 376 at Khanna police station in Ludhiana city.

The FIR said the passengers were being protected by CISF personnel on duty. Later, at 9:57 am, when CISF security personnel went to the toilet, it was learned that the passenger had escaped from the CISF custody around 10 am. He reportedly illegally exited the arrival immigration area by jumping over the gate at counter number 33.
CISF chief public relations officer Shrikant Kishore denied the allegations. He said, “The passenger did not escape from CISF custody. He was never handed over to CISF.”
A CISF official, who requested anonymity, said, “As per the procedure, whenever a person is handed over to CISF for further transfer to security agencies, a formal entry is made in the register located in the detention room. is an open space, but there are security guards posted outside. If the immigration officer brings a person into the room without threatening the CISF, it is not the responsibility of the CISF to guard the person. ” said the official.
A Delhi Police officer aware of the matter said they would contact the Punjab Police for details of the rape case and the accused.
