Safer roads around the world: FIA Director-General for Automotive Mobility and Tourism Jacob Vansgaard attends the Transport Research Board (TRB) Annual General Meeting in Washington DC
FIA Secretary General for Automotive Mobility and Tourism, Jacob Vansgaard, promoted the influential FIA Road Safety Index at this week’s TRB Annual General Meeting.
The Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting was an opportunity for leading transportation experts and researchers to come together to discuss ways to improve transportation options and efficiency around the world.
At the event, Jacob Vansgaard will join other global stakeholders, including representatives from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the International Road Assessment Program (iRAP), and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), for sessions. Participated. It was titled “Analysis of International Traffic Safety Data.”
He was also invited to participate on a panel hosted by the FIA Foundation focused on “Public and Private Sectors: Pursuit of Safe Systems” along with representatives from the US Department of Transportation and Amazon.
On both occasions, Jacob Bangsgaard introduced the index and how its innovative method allows companies and organizations to map and assess their impact on road safety and calculate their safety footprint.
FIA’s index has the potential to transform the global road safety sector, fostering private sector involvement and helping companies and organizations to showcase their safety efforts as part of their sustainability reporting . Ultimately, the Road Safety Index aims to significantly reduce road accidents and accidents, benefiting the health, environment and economy of local communities.
Jacob Vansgaard explained: “By incorporating road safety indicators into sustainability reports, companies and organizations demonstrate their commitment to a holistic approach to sustainability, one that includes not only environmental and social factors but also human safety. The FIA Road Safety Index considers everything from general practices and procurement policies to practical solutions for controlling key safety elements such as speed, gear protection and training.
