The Board of Directors of the General Authority for Competition (GAC) has given the green light to prosecute 79 establishments for violating the Competition Law and its enforcement provisions.
The board decided to file criminal proceedings against 64 businesses and consider settlement claims by the remaining 15 businesses.
Violations included agreeing to fix prices or dividing markets according to geographic regions, which reduced competition and affected consumer interests. .
On Wednesday, the GAC Board held its 85th meeting in Riyadh, during which it decided to initiate criminal proceedings against a number of facilities and consider settlement requests against other facilities in several areas.
The board reviewed the findings of the education and industry departments and agreed to take necessary measures against the six facilities and order them to rectify conditions. It also approved a settlement request filed by two establishments that serve cold and hot beverages and pastries after considering the results of the investigation and investigation.
The Commission also considered the results of investigations and investigations with 10 institutions active in the field of contracting and decided to dismiss the proceedings against these institutions for lack of jurisdiction.
Furthermore, the Commission considered the results of the investigation regarding the establishment operating the waste collection and transportation sector and decided to close the case as it was not found that there was any violation of the Competition Law and its enforcement regulations.
Similarly, an investigation into five companies operating in the retail sales and electronics sectors found no violations of the Competition Act and its enforcement regulations, and the case was closed.
