Seeded players in both the women’s singles and men’s singles categories competed yesterday in their respective second rounds of the Bahrain ITF Junior 2023 tournament held at the Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) hard courts in Isa Town.
The tournament is the third of three consecutive ITF events hosted by Saudi Arabia over the past few weeks.
This is the only J60 event that is part of the 2023 International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour Junior, featuring the world’s top tennis talent aged 13 to 18.
In the women’s singles, sixth-seeded Flora Johnson (Great Britain) defeated Olga Danilova (Cyprus) 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the second round.
Seventh seed Emma Fantoussis (also from Cyprus) also won the tournament, defeating Adiya Omarbek (Kazakhstan) 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7).
Eighth-seeded Cindy Lenglet of France followed suit, defeating Simona Cucu of Romania 7-5, 6-0.
Others who progressed to the second stage of the women’s competition were France’s Elena LeBeau, Slovenia’s Alina Luiza Fusil, Kazakhstan’s Ariana Goglina, Turkey’s Ece Boyle and Egypt’s Sara Desuky.
In the men’s singles, second seed Aleksandar Daskarovic defeated Ozan Abanoglu (Turkey) 6-3, 6-1, while third seed Marko Milosavljevic (Serbia) defeated Shadi Karel (Bahrain). defeated 6-0, 6-0.
Fourth seed Bugura Ozkok (Turkey) defeated Bahrain’s Faris Al Toubry 6-1, 6-2, while eighth seed Aaron Gabe (France) defeated Bader Idris (Saudi Arabia) 6-1. We defeated them 4, 6-2.
Also marching forward were Venkat Rishi Batranki of the United States, Ahmed Ibrahim and Egor Shcherbakov of Egypt, Josh Hinton of Great Britain and Deb Kambargimas of Romania.
