Director-General of the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) Sheikh Douaiji bin Salman bin Douaiji Al Khalifa yesterday announced the 2023 Decree on Licenses Required for Technicians Working in Government Institutions to Practice Technical Professions (3) was issued. Article 51 of his 2014 on Regulation of the Practice of the Engineering Profession applies.
He said the agency must work with the Council for the Regulation of the Practice of the Engineering Professions (CRPEP) to obtain initial approval for a license to practice for each candidate individually.
CSB must obtain the necessary documentation and initial approval issued by CRPEP in order to proceed with hiring candidates for engineering positions.
He added that after hiring employees, they must submit an application to CRPEP to obtain a final license to practice the engineering profession.
Employees may not engage in technical work unless licensed.
To obtain a license, in accordance with the conditions and procedures laid down in Article (6) of the Executive Regulations of the Law (51) of 2014 on the Regulation of the Practice of the Engineering Profession promulgated by Royal Decree (27) of 2023 You must submit an application.
An employee’s right to promotion or transfer to a higher level of employment will not be affected if the government agency in which the employee works does not apply for the necessary permits.
Government agencies should expedite the issuance of the necessary licenses to correct the legal status of current employees.
