Several car brands under Stellantis have been affected by a cyberattack against Chinese supplier Yanfeng International Automobile Co., Ltd.
Yanfeng supplies auto parts to automakers, including electronics, seats, interiors and other components. On Monday, Nov. 13, Yanfeng’s website stopped working, and many U.S.-based automakers reported production disruptions. U.S. automakers affected by the Yanfeng cyberattack include Stellantis, which includes the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram brands.
Stellantis released a statement regarding the production disruption. “Due to issues with external suppliers, production has been disrupted at some of Stellantis’ North American assembly plants. We are monitoring the situation and working with our suppliers to mitigate any further impact to our business.” ,” said spokeswoman Anne Marie Fortunate.
Stellantis has been working hard to transition from producing internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles. The company recently invested in Chinese automaker Leap Motor to expand global electric vehicle (EV) sales. The traditional car manufacturer became a shareholder in Leap Motor after investing 1.5 billion euros in the Chinese company.
Earlier this month, Stellantis unveiled the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger, which features a battery electric motor and gas engine. The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger functions like a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and reveals where Stellantis stands in the electrification effort.
