The Ravens have failed to score more than 30 points in their past five games. In fact, the points were very high on Sunday Night Football.
Despite confusing the Chargers and failing to place, the Ravens didn’t have to find it.
Despite not being at their best, the Ravens defeated the Chargers 20-10. Baltimore improved to 9 wins and 3 losses, but the Chargers lost to 4 wins and 7 losses.
Los Angeles persevered despite four turnovers and got within 13-10 on a 3-yard touchdown pass from Justin Herbert to Gerald Everett with 8:32 left.
Ravens kicker Justin Tucker then did something unexpected, missing a 44-yard field goal to left with 2:57 left.
The Chargers took the lead with their own 34 points with 2 minutes and 57 seconds remaining, and caught up to Baltimore’s 46 points, but they were incomplete on third-and-six. Brandon Staley, who had three timeouts left, chose to go for it, but Arthur Moret blitzed and Herbert was called for a ground ball.
Three plays later, Zai Flowers ran 37 yards to the end zone with 1:36 remaining to stop the game.
The Ravens gained 361 yards, but only one of their four takeaways was a field goal.
Lamar Jackson was 18-of-32 for 177 yards and a touchdown, running for 40 yards on 10 carries. Flowers caught a 3-yard touchdown and had five catches for 25 yards receiving.
Jadeveon Clowney, Justin Madubuike, Roquan Smith, Patrick Queen and the rest of the league’s top defensemen played their part.
Herbert completed 29 of 44 for 217 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He ran for 47 yards on four carries but lost a fumble. Keenan Allen caught 14 passes for 106 yards.
Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack had two big sacks, preventing the Ravens from ending the game early.
The Ravens enter the off week atop the AFC standings.
