dubai and manama – Sustainability Forum Middle East, in partnership with the Bahrain American Chamber of Commerce and with support from the Supreme Council for the Environment, recently held a high-level presentation on “Transforming Climate Finance on the Path to Net Zero” at the Bahrain Pavilion. A round table was held. At COP28 in Dubai.
Leading financial experts from regional and international banks participated in the session. Among them are Dr. Boutros Klink, CEO of Standard Chartered Middle East (excluding UAE) and Bahrain, Farouk Zaheer Zuberi, Chief Financial Officer of APM Terminals Bahrain, and Chief Executive Officer of ABC Bank. Ian McCallum, Head of Sustainability, Joseph Golayeb, CEO of HSBC, Mohamed Al Shehab of Bahrain, Vice President of Corporate Finance and Investor Relations, Bapco Energies, Gulf International Bank Venetia Bell, Group Chief Sustainability Officer. The session was moderated by Kalyan Krishnan Subramanian, Head of Markets, Director of Advisory Services, KPMG.
The roundtable highlighted progress on climate finance targets and considered solutions to close financing gaps and mobilize resources to vulnerable developing countries. The discussion highlighted the critical role of finance in achieving net zero targets and outlined practical steps the financial sector can take to accelerate progress.
Sustainability Forum Middle East will launch its next annual edition in the Kingdom of Bahrain on January 9, 2024, in the presence of His Excellency Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dayna, Minister of Petroleum and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Issues, Kingdom of Bahrain intend to do something.
