This Friday’s national average of $3.12 is 4 cents higher than a week ago and 2 cents higher than a year ago.
According to new data, Energy Information Administration (EIA)gas demand fell slightly to 8.75 million barrels per day from 8.86 million barrels per day last week.
Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline inventories increased by 2.7 million barrels to 226.7 million barrels. As winter approaches in the United States, pump prices are fluctuating due to strong gas demand and soaring crude oil prices.
Prices at the pump may continue to fluctuate slightly during the busy travel season as drivers head to vacation destinations over this three-day weekend.
weekend:As of Friday’s official close, WTI settled at $73.56. This week, oil prices rose due to attack on tanker Red Sealeading to changes in the vessel’s route. Cape of Good Hopewill require increased transportation costs.
Additionally, EIA reported last week that total domestic commercial crude oil inventories increased by nearly 3 million barrels to 443.7 million barrels.

What a difference a few weeks can make
As of Dec. 8, the national price per gallon resumed a “steady retreat” after “withstanding price increases” and was down 6 cents from its recent high of $3.18.
Oil prices were just above $70 per barrel, and OPEC had announced independent production costs of about 2 billion barrels per day.
At that time, the average price per barrel was $2.73, with the Heartland region and volunteer nationwas at the forefront.
Here are the top 10 cheapest markets in the country earlier this month: texas ($2.68), mississippi ($2.72), oklahoma ($2.73), missouri ($2.75), louisiana ($2.75), arkansas ($2.78)Kansas ($2.83), Alabama ($2.84), tennessee ($2.85) and meWow ($2.87).
AAA’s ever-cautious Riley Fletcher predicted prices could fall further.
“Gasoline costs less than $3 per gallon at more than half of all gas stations in the United States. By the end of the year, the national average could be lower as well.”
CityNewsOKC.com expected prices to continue to fall, but then…the world intervened.
inside oklahoma city In the region, pump prices were $2.66, down a penny from a year ago but 14 cents higher than 12 months ago.
in tulsa (often the lowest prices in the state), the cost per gallon on Friday was $2.57, down from less than a penny again 12 months ago.
