The third year of the 10-race Bahrain Turf Series begins on Friday at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club.
In November, Sir Alex Ferguson achieved a memorable victory with Spirit Dancer (UK) (Frankel {UK}) in the $1 million G2 Bahrain International Trophy. The series, which runs from December to February, offers internationally trained horses (ratings between 85 and 100 points) the opportunity to compete against local horses based in Bahrain over 10 races. The prize money for each race is his $80,000, with bonus prizes awarded to the horse that scores the most points in the two divisions: sprint and middle distance.
