Yesterday, in a grand commemoration, many Sikhs gathered at the Salmabad Gurudwara in the Kingdom of Bahrain to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Ji Gurupurab.
Vinod K. Jacob along with prominent members of the Salmabad Gurdwara Management Committee including Gurmail Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Gurbuchan Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Daljeet Singh, Jaswinder Singh and Rajvender Singh. The esteemed presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of India added significance to the ceremony.
Guru Nanak Ji Gurupurab, also known as Guru Nanak Ji Prakash Utsav, commemorates the birth of Guru Nanak, the first Guru of Sikhism. As the revered founder of Sikhism and one of its most revered figures, Guru Nanak occupies a central place in the Sikh community.
The festival of Guru Nanak Ji Gurupurabhu is one of the holiest festivals of Sikhism. The festival at Sarmabad Gurdwara began with soul-stirring scripture readings and melodious kirtan singing. As a sign of deep respect, devotees offered prayers and paid homage to Guru Nanak Ji.
A special Guru Ka Langar symbolizing community unity was generously offered to all participants. Ambassador Jacob addressed the congregation and extended warm greetings to the Sikh community on the holy occasion of Guru Nanak Ji Gurpurab.
He praised the significant contribution of the Sikh community to Bahrain’s development and affirmed the Embassy of India in Bahrain’s resolute commitment to the welfare and prosperity of the Indian community in Saudi Arabia.
