Typically, when an NFL team fires someone, the team posts a hollow “thank you” message on social media. Now, the former Chargers general manager posted his gratitude on social media.
“I Thank you for 11 years As GM of the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers,” Telesco wrote. “It was an experience my family and I will never forget. The NFL is a people’s business and I am grateful for the hard work, sacrificed time and loyalty of so many people. Players, coaches, Thank you to the scouts, trainers, doctors, video, equipment, public relations, grounds staff, security, player engagement, digital media and especially Ed McGuire and Jojo Wooden. We look forward to the next chapter and will continue to do so. I will always be a Bolt fan.”
Some may say Telesco didn’t deserve his fate. He built a competitive team and drafted a franchise quarterback. It’s not his fault that the assembled talent didn’t quite live up to expectations.
Getting rid of Telesco allows the Chargers to move forward with a clean slate. We’ll learn more about next steps during Saturday’s Bengals-Steelers pregame show on NBC and Peacock.
Meanwhile, former Chargers manager Brandon Staley has remained silent for eight days since being fired during his third season. He went 24-24 in the regular season and 0-1 in the playoffs, blowing a 27-0 lead against the Chargers in last season’s wild-card round. Many thought he would be gone at that time.
