Turkey’s parliament speaker said there was “huge potential” for trade ties between Turkiye and Bahrain during his visit on Monday, stressing the need for improved relations between the two countries’ parliaments.
As part of his visit to Bahrain, Numan Kurtulmus met with the Speaker of the Bahrain House of Representatives, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, according to a statement from the Turkish parliament.
“The 50th anniversary of the establishment of Turkiye-Bahrain relations has come to an end. From now on, we would like to discuss further goals for the next 50 years. In addition to President Erdoğan’s efforts in bilateral relations, our parliament should also strive to improve bilateral relations.” It is important to strengthen the relationship between the two countries,” Kurtulmus said.
Recalling that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has applied to join the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Kulturmuş said that the federation’s administrators are Bahraini officials and asked for assistance in this matter. He emphasized that he was looking for it.
“Despite all positive efforts, unfortunately, the TRNC remains subject to Western punishment,” he said, adding, “There is a need to support recognition of the TRNC by providing support on international platforms. ” he added.
Kurtulmuş also conveyed the Turkish government’s gratitude for Bahrain’s stance against Israel’s “inhumane genocide against Palestine.”
He hoped that “an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital will be established.”
Al Musallam also stressed that the two countries aim to take political, diplomatic and economic relations between Bahrain and Turkiye to a higher level.
He expressed support for the Turkish government’s efforts towards Palestine on international platforms, and said Manama had acted as well.
He said the solution to the Palestinian issue lies in the establishment of a fully independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, adding that Bahrain opposes the eviction of Palestinians from their land.
Since Hamas’s cross-border attack last October, Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip.
Since then, the onslaught has killed more than 26,000 people, mainly women and children, displaced 85% of the blockaded enclave’s population, and created conditions of famine. Israel said 1,200 people were killed in the first Hamas attack.
Kurtulmus opens Aselsan office in UAE
After visiting Bahrain, Kurtulmus is on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he opened the UAE office of Turkish defense giant Aselsan in the capital Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
“We believe that the Aselsan UAE office we have opened in the United Arab Emirates will strengthen the friendly relations between our two countries and open new doors in the journey of growth and success for our defense industry through technology transfer. ,” Kurtulmus said in the post. on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
“I am proud that our defense industry is taking firm steps in line with the vision of the ‘Turkiye Century’ by combining technological innovation and superior quality,” he added.
Turkiye and the UAE signed 13 agreements worth $50.7 billion last year during President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to the Gulf state, and the two countries expanded cooperation in a number of areas including infrastructure, defense and energy.
