A high-profile Gold Coast property known as the ‘White House’ has sold for $7.3 million, breaking a suburban record by more than $2 million.
The expansive two-storey home at 43 Marchelli Street in Mermaid Waters was one of the most sought-after properties in the country on property portal realestate.com.au when it went on the market.
The property was put up for auction on Friday, with attendees limited to about 100 people.
Justin Nickerson of Apollo Auctions was in charge, accepting bids despite severe storms and thunder.
Bidding began at $4 million, with 14 registered bidders vying for the keys.
After more than 15 minutes of bidding and 61 bids, the property sold to a Gold Coast buyer for $7.3 million.
“It’s an unbelievable result,” Nickerson said.
“We had really strong competition, beyond rivalry and expectations.
“The bidding was very strong and healthy, with essentially two bidders in the low $5 million range.

Nickerson said the selling point of the property is that it’s one of a kind.
“If you miss out on this place, you won’t find anywhere else quite like it due to its location, large canal frontage and 1222 square meter plot.
“The construction of the house was perfect. That’s the lifestyle you buy to live in for the rest of your life.”
The previous record was 62 Lakeview Blvd, which sold for $5.28 million in November 2021.
Kollosche – Broadbeach agents Jamie Harrison and Taylor Kleinberg marketed this property with significant interest from across the country.
“The objective of this strategy was to generate significant early momentum and generate local, interstate and international interest,” Mr Harrison said.
“We knew we needed to develop a strategy to reach buyers outside of Mermaid Waters.
“We didn’t want to wait for a buyer to come to us.
“As a result, we received 330 inquiries from across the country, allowing us to work with emotional buyers and focus on private inspections.”
Harrison said the property is like a private resort.
“This is a really functional family house that was well received on the market and led to the results we achieved.”
With sweeping views of the Gold Coast city skyline across the ocean, the impeccably designed, nearly new home offered a property with entertaining, outdoor living and comfortable living built into the design.
Located within walking distance of the beach, this home features a private pontoon, infinity-edge pool, separate hot and cold plunge pools, and a designated gym area.
Owner Simone Gergely paid $1.07 million for the property in 2018, drawn to its waterfront location and the growing appeal of Mermaid Waters.
At the time, there was an old-style brick house on the site, which the family tore down and built their dream home, which embraced the quintessential Gold Coast lifestyle.
Situated on a north-east facing corner block, the home has been designed to maximize views across the canal to Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise beyond.
Other amenities include a home cinema and games room, as well as a guest retreat with its own kitchenette, private entrance and lounge area.
Construction of the house was completed in 2020.
