The Wenatchee School District (WSD) Board of Directors will hold a special executive meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 12).
The board plans to use the meeting to discuss the real estate deal the district is currently negotiating with Chelan County.
WSD spokeswoman Diana Haglund said the board must convene in private to discuss such transactions.
“When public information is made public in connection with property sales negotiations and made available to anyone who wishes to make an offer, it can disrupt the buying and selling process.”
Haglund added that it is standard procedure for the board to hold an executive meeting when considering a real estate transaction.
“It’s pretty standard practice not to have these kinds of discussions in public session, but instead to go into board sessions. That way the board can understand what a real estate sale or purchase will look like. And we will be able to openly discuss the terms.” “
The Board will meet at the district’s central office on Sunset Avenue after the conclusion of its regular weekly board meeting.
The executive committee meeting is expected to be delayed by about 30 minutes without any action being taken.
