South San Francisco, California – The West Coast Conference announced the addition of Oregon State University and Washington State University as two-year, 12-sport associate members starting in the 2024-25 school year.
The WCC will extend invitations to 12 sports for OSU and WSU, with both universities scheduled to compete as associate members in men’s basketball, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s golf, women’s golf, women’s cross country and women’s rowing. Oregon State also competes in the conference in men’s soccer and softball, and Washington State also competes in the WCC in women’s tennis and men’s cross country.

With the addition of Oregon State and Washington State, the conference now has 11 teams in men’s basketball, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, volleyball and women’s cross country. 10 teams for men’s golf and women’s tennis. 9 in men’s soccer, men’s cross country, and women’s rowing. WCC teams compete for a national championship each year and have a storied history of producing nearly 30 team or individual national champions since the conference was founded in 1952. The conference regularly receives NCAA bids in many sports, including men’s and women’s basketball. The Gonzaga men’s basketball team, which reached the NCAA quarterfinals last season, has advanced to the national championship game twice in the past six NCAA tournaments. This fall, WCC sent three men’s soccer teams and three women’s soccer teams to the NCAA Tournament. The conference has reached the NCAA quarterfinals in men’s soccer each of the past two seasons, with Portland in 2022 and LMU last season. The rich history of WCC women’s soccer also includes the 2021 spring Santa Clara national title. Pepperdine men’s golf won the WCC’s latest team national title and earned his 2021 NCAA honor. The Pepperdine women’s tennis team has advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals in each of the past five seasons, and in 2021 they were NCAA runners-up. LMU beach volleyball has finished in the top five in the final national rankings each of the past three seasons. WCC also has a strong postseason history in indoor volleyball, highlighted by San Diego’s advance to her NCAA Final Four in 2022.
