Wheeling Elks Lodge No. 28 has announced its Student of the Month for October and November. October’s winners are Kathryn Tiu and Thomas Linkerts, both seniors at Wheeling Central Catholic High School. Cameron High School seniors Emily Dobbs and Joshua Meneely earned this honor in November.
Ms. Tiu, the daughter of Dr. Christopher and Dr. Dana Tiu of Wheeling, is captain of the women’s soccer team. She serves as chair of both the Mathematics Professor Emeritus Program and the Mathematics and Science Tutoring Program. She participated in both West Virginia Women’s State and the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Program.
Linkers, the son of Barb Yazlonbeck and Tom Linkers of Bridgeport, Ohio, is the senior class treasurer and tutor in both math and science. He is the captain of the men’s lacrosse team and assistant captain of the hockey team. He was a four-year member of the Drug Free Club of America and also attended West Virginia Boys State.
Dobbs, the daughter of Cameron’s Stephanie and Michael Dobbs, has been a member of the student council for four years and currently serves as treasurer. She is also a four-year member of the West Virginia girls basketball team that has won the past two Class A state championships. She is also actively involved in the school newspaper and her yearbook.
Meneely, the son of Cameron Prime Minister Vicki Meneely and Darrell Meneely, is a National Honor Society historian. He attended West Virginia Boys State University and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He has been a member of bands such as the Honor Bands and his OVAC All-Star Band for eight years.
