A cool, breezy day: Colder air will move into Alabama today, with mostly cloudy skies and northwest winds 16 to 20 mph, gusting up to 25 mph at times. There is a chance of drizzle, but no measurable rainfall is expected. Temperatures in the northern third of the state won’t break out of the 50s, while highs elsewhere will be in the low to mid 60s.
The week ahead: Dry weather continues until Thursday. Tomorrow will be another very cool day with high temperatures across the state ranging from 56 degrees to 64 degrees. The rest of the week then warms into the 70s.
There is a chance of showers Thursday night and Friday ahead of the arrival of the cold front, but models are pushing back the amount of moisture available and the amount of rain will be very low, typically in the quarters. It seems to be less than an inch.
Dry weather returns over the weekend with highs of 67 to 74 degrees and lows in the 40s.
From the Alabama WX Blog:
Skies were clear during the day Saturday, giving most people a chance to view the annular solar eclipse. I love the shadows created by the leaves and the small images of the eclipse reflected on the ground.
Starting in the 50s: Cold air advection is occurring this morning behind the cold front that moved through the state yesterday. Winds are blowing out of the northwest and it will feel cold all day long. Particularly cold air aloft quickly returns to cloud formation, creating sufficient instability and lift. A few showers are also possible during the day. Most people won’t see any rain, but some places may experience heavy drizzle or light rain. Many areas in the northern part of the state have already recorded highs for the day in the low 50s, and temperatures are likely to slowly drop throughout the day. People in the central part of the state could see temperatures jump several degrees, ranging from 58 degrees Fahrenheit to 62 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures will be in the 40s tonight with dew points dropping into the 40s.
Monday, Monday: Skies will be clear across the region tonight, but Monday will be partly cloudy. However, it will still be chilly and the northwest wind will make it feel even colder than the high 50s or low 60s. Low temperatures Monday night will be in the upper 30s in the north and low to mid 40s in central Alabama. Light frosts are possible in some of the colder than normal valleys in northern Alabama as winds ease a bit overnight.
Moderate warming trend midweek: Temperatures should warm into the mid-60s to near 70s on Tuesday, with most Wednesday readings in the low-to-mid 70s, with everyone above 70s by Thursday. It should be. Overnight lows will be in the 40s. Skies will be mostly clear to cloudy each day, but the next forecaster will arrive by Thursday.
Heading into the weekend: A cold front will move across Alabama on Friday, bringing showers and thunder. Winds will pick up late Friday and continue into Saturday with clear skies. Temperatures should be in the upper 60s to low 70s both days.
Voodoo Region: Week 2 period features ridges across the Deep South and Alabama. This should result in mild, warm weather with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. October in Alabama has the most wonderful weather.
BEACH CAST: Along the beautiful beaches of Alabama and northwest Florida, only one of the next 16 days will see rain. That day will be next Friday.
Otherwise, enjoy! Highs next week will be mainly in the low to upper 70s. Water temperatures are in the low 70s.rip current
