New Delhi: Suzuki Motor Corporation has achieved cumulative global sales of 80 million four-wheelers by the end of August 2023. The breakdown of sales is 28.9 million units in Japan and 51.27 million units overseas. The regional breakdown is 36% from Japan, 32.6% from India, 10% from Europe, 13.5% from Asia, and 7.8% from other regions (Latin America, Oceania, the Middle East, Africa, etc.). Since the start of mass production for the first time in Japan, Suzuki launched the light vehicle “Suzlite” in October 1955, and has continued to innovate and develop light vehicles, bringing out original products that meet customer needs. The release of the Fronte 800 in 1965 marked the debut of Suzuki’s small car.
Overseas sales began with the export of Suzurite in 1959, and since overseas production of Suzuki’s first four-wheeled vehicle began in Pakistan in 1975, it has actively expanded overseas production bases in India in 1983 and Hungary in 1992. has been expanded. It not only serves as a hub for India’s domestic market, but also plays a role in exporting to Africa and other countries.

Suzuki currently has 15 automobile production bases in 10 countries, including Japan. Suzuki vehicles are used in 184 countries and regions around the world.
The Alto, released in 1979, accounted for 20% of the 80 million units sold. Over the 44 years since its release, the Alto has been loved by customers and has become one of Japan’s most representative minicar models. The Alto, which started out as a Japanese light car, has expanded all over the world, particularly in India, where it has contributed significantly to Suzuki’s sales in that country.
