Last week, European Language Day was held at the Movenpick Hotel in Manama, highlighting the importance of learning foreign languages and promoting multilingualism in Bahrain.
Many Bahrainis attended the event, participated in group activities and learned various languages such as French, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.
Theo Le Maire, the European Union’s political attaché for Bahrain, spoke at the event about the importance of language learning in a globalized world.
He emphasized that there is no better time to learn a language than now. “We sometimes think that European languages are not translations.
In fact, one of our founding principles is multilingualism: we want to communicate with our citizens in the languages they speak and understand. This means that basically everything the European Union does is translated into all 24 languages at the same time. ” he said.
The event was also attended by the ambassadors of Germany, France, Italy and Spain to Kuwait and other dignitaries.
