NORTH CAROLINA — Several high-profile projects in the Charlotte metro came to an end in September.
In Huntersville, the hotly contested Laguna Bay project off Sam Farr Road was officially shelved last month after Vipert developer Jake Parrillo pulled out due to financial concerns. . The project, which was officially announced earlier this year, faced significant opposition from neighboring countries. Mr. Parrillo revised his plans for the site several times. The sale of the Johnston YMCA site in NoDa, near the city center, has fallen through as a result of current market conditions. The site, located at 3025 N. Davidson St., was under contract to California developer Republic Metropolitan. The company aimed to build 455 apartments there.
Farther north, plans for a major Mooresville development near Lake Norman with up to 660 homes stalled in September after opposition from the town’s Planning Commission. Last month, the timeline for the developer’s next steps was unclear.
