Eoin Morgan has said that it is “underwhelming” to think that England could parachute Jofra Archer into a World Cup match if they were “desperate” as Archer continues his recovery from a stress fracture in his elbow. I don’t know.”
Archer is expected to arrive in India next week to join up with England in Mumbai and has been designated as the only traveling reserve for the tournament. He bowled in England’s training during last month’s ODI series against New Zealand and has recently been bowling in Hove as part of his rehabilitation.
Archer will be on standby in case one of England’s six frontline players is injured. Former England captain Morgan played his most recent match in the IPL four months ago but has not had a chance to prove his fitness in a match scenario and will need to manage himself “very well”. he said.
Asked about the potential value of Archer’s bowling on the Indian pitch, Morgan said: “Right now I don’t know because he hasn’t played and we don’t know what he’s capable of.” .Obviously, the feedback when he plays is important.” In team training, he has returned to bowling beautifully, which he would like to see in matches.
“You’d want to see that in continued performance. You’d have to manage that very well, because given the injury problems he’s had recently, I think everyone thinks that I think you are naive.” [you should] We’re either desperate or feel like you have a choice, so throw him in while you can. ”
Mr Morgan’s successor, Jos Butler, said there would be “discussions” about what Archer would do if a sailor were injured. “He’s going to be out soon,” Butler said. “The plan is obviously to finish the rehabilitation phase on his return from injury, so he will join the team soon.
“He’s coming in as a reserve, so he’s not on the team. And he’s continuing to strengthen and rehabilitate, and it’s a great place for him to be able to do that on and off the team here. Obviously, he’s If you grow up, everything will be fine, the worst is [scenario] It happens, it’s a conversation. ”
As an ambassador for the ICC Men’s World Cup, Morgan downplayed the possibility of Archer appearing soon. “It would take a pretty significant injury for him to play,” he said. “It’s only been a week since the tournament started, so if you’re a bowler you’ll need six weeks of injury.”
