The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has announced that the 2023 IMMAF Asian Championship will be held from December 10th to 16th as part of the BRAVE CF International Combat Week.
The event will be held at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in Bahrain and will feature tournaments for senior (18+), junior (U21) and youth (U18) athletes.
The Asian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (AMMAF) is made up of directors representing five regions in a collaborative role, with responsibility for overseeing the event and ensuring that all aspects of the Asian Championships are conducted to the highest standards. do.
In recent years, Bahrain has become a mainstay in the amateur MMA world, hosting three IMMAF World Championships, the landmark MMA Super Cup, and producing several IMMAF gold medalists.
As proof that the efforts the country has put into supporting the amateur scene are paying off, a number of Bahraini fighters are now entering the mainstream of professional mixed martial arts. Most recently, 2019 IMMAF Asian Championship gold medalist Shamil Gaziev secured a contract with the UFC after a dominant first round finish on Dana White’s Contender Series.
As one of Asia’s leading MMA countries, Tajikistan, which will host the 2022 IMMAF Asian Championship, is also expected to participate. Tajikistan, which has produced world champions such as Mohammad Sarokhidinov and Otabek Radjabov, seems destined for another huge success at the IMMAF Asian Championships.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE), which recently hosted the 2023 IMMAF Youth World Championships, will also be participating. The event was a historic occasion as a UAE female athlete won a gold medal for the first time in the nation’s history, proving once again the rapid evolution of MMA in the Middle East.
The 2023 IMMAF Asian Championship is the third IMMAF event of 2023 in partnership with BRAVE CF, one of the world’s top professional MMA promotions.
The 2023 IMMAF Pan American Championship, held in August as part of Brave Pan American Combat Week, was a huge success and perfectly encapsulated the essence of the Pan American fighting spirit. The event also served as a showcase for the current standards of MMA in Pan America, with former IMMAF champions competing in the BRAVE CF main event and the next generation of emerging athletes competing for gold at the IMMAF proving ground. .
BRAVE International Combat Week will not only host the 2023 IMMAF Asian Championship, but also the BRAVE CF year-end show scheduled for December 15th.
The 2023 IMMAF Asian Championship will be the last IMMAF event of the year, while the 2023 IMMAF World Championship is scheduled to take place on November 19th.
