Dr. Terry Brewer, Founder and President of Brewer Sciences, will be speaking at the 8th Annual Schrenk Hall, Monsanto Lecture Hall, Room G3, on the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus on Friday, October 27th at 2:00 p.m. Stoffer lecture will be held. The lecture is free and open to the public and can be viewed online after the event.
The title of Mr. Brewer’s lecture was “The Business of Chemistry.” He discusses the key factors that have made Brewer Science successful: chemistry, business, and people. Scientific understanding is important, he says, but it wouldn’t be enough without the right business culture and strategy, as well as retaining and developing employees who can take on the chemical business.
Founded in 1981, Brewer Science produces materials and processes used in semiconductors and microelectronics. Under Mr. Brewer’s leadership, the company has successfully commercialized many government-supported technologies and consults with government leaders on U.S. advanced technology, manufacturing and small business development policy.
Brewer serves on the SEMI North American Advisory Board and is a founding member of the Jordan Valley Innovation Center in Springfield, Missouri. He holds numerous patents and is known as the inventor of anti-reflective coatings (ARC® materials). He is a strong supporter of economic development, entrepreneurship, job creation, STEM education, the environment, and the arts.
The Stoffer Lecture Series was established by Dr. James O. Stoffer, Missouri S&T Curators Emeritus Professor of Chemistry Emeritus. Provides an opportunity to learn from scholars and innovators in polymer chemistry and related fields.
