Mahomes successfully intercepted Justin Simmons on 3-for-8 from Denver’s 15th base, and Broncos defensive lineman Matt Henningsen and others intercepted Noah Gray’s pseudo-field goal on 2-for-4 from Denver’s 6th base. I stopped trying.
The Chiefs punted on their penultimate possession of the first half. But Harrison Butker kicked a 60-yard field goal on the final play of the first half, ending a 19-yard, 15-second drive and punting the ball back to the Chiefs after Denver called a timeout. Butker made a 35-yard field goal on the first drive.
Kansas City had 227 yards.
Mahomes was 15-of-23 for 162 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the first half. Travis Kelce, who was doubtful to play with his ankle sprain, caught seven passes for 109 yards. Isaiah Pacheco had nine rushes for 47 yards and two receptions for 14 yards.
The Broncos received the first kickoff and went 34 yards to the Kansas City 38 before Justin Reid sacked Russell Wilson on a fourth-and-3.
Wilson threw an interception to Nick Bolton on the team’s second possession, and the Broncos punted on their final four drives of the first half.
Denver only has 94 yards.
Wilson completed 7 of 11 for 37 yards, including one interception, and had three sacks. Javonte Williams gained 41 yards on five carries.
