daniels domination
Jaden Daniels is putting up numbers not seen at LSU since four years ago. More on his 2019 comp in a moment, but it’s safe to say Daniels has thrust himself into the Heisman conversation with his performance this season.
Two areas of particular strength are his play under pressure and his ability to force the ball down the field. Daniels has always been cool in California. “He doesn’t flinch,” left tackle Will Campbell said. But his ability to thoroughly punish defenses has taken his play and offense to new heights this season.

Improving defensive power
Much like the Tigers’ offense, LSU’s defense can win games by limiting big plays, making stops in key spots, and forcing occasional turnovers here and there. The unit struggled in the fourth quarter against Ole Miss and the University of Arkansas and in the first half against Missouri State, but the final six quarters showed a winning formula. What’s important is the summary.
Opponent | Tackle mistake | Yards after contact |
---|---|---|
arkansas | 11 | 126 |
Ole Miss | 18 | 242 |
missouri | 3 | 81 |
auburn | 2 | 78 |
