After a three-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, Bahrain’s Young Goans Club (YGC) will celebrate World Goa Day and Bandra on September 29 at the Bahn Saen Thai Auditorium in Adriya.・We celebrated the fair.
It was a celebration of culture, unity and community, with a packed house of people from all walks of life experiencing Goa’s heritage.
The chief guest of the event was Mr. Odus Timburo, Chairman of Fomento Group of Companies, and the guests of honor were Mr. Akash Timburo, Chairman of Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) and Kurtrim MLA Aleixo Reginald Lorenko.

In his speech, Mr. Odus Timbulo recalled his first visit to Bahrain as a young businessman in 1979 and said that this was his second visit to Bahrain.
Stating that the spirit of Goa is alive, he said the huge number of Goans across the world is a great force that cannot be ignored and appealed to them to contribute to the welfare of Goa.
Young Goans Club President Noel Fernandes welcomed the gathering and thanked all those involved in the planning and presentation of the event.
Additional attractions flown in specifically for the event include Goa’s Authentic Voice, Sanio Fernandes from Dubai, whose special session kept everyone on the dance floor from start to finish, DJ Essax from Scotland excited the audience and kept shouting for more.
Competitors Silvestre Mascarenhas (Bonnie), Angelo Lawrence and Leander Fernandez enlivened the show with their unique styles, while local bands “3 Notes” and “Muzzik Mania” entertained the crowd with their music.
Traditional Goan food was sold at the food stalls, game stalls were also busy, and no one left empty-handed. Throughout the day, baskets, prizes and cultural programs were announced.

Young Gonz Club
Commenting on YGC, Fernandes said it is one of the oldest foreign clubs in Bahrain, having been established in 1953.
“It is the only officially registered community organization in Goa and complies with the guidelines for foreign clubs and organizations set by the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain,” said the Margao native and former basketball star of the 1980s. said Mr. Fernandez. and the 90s who represented Goa in all national categories of the sport.
“The club hosts and organizes a variety of traditional Goan festivals and events, including village feasts and festivities, cultural, culinary, musical and sporting activities, and offers a wide range of family entertainment.”

Fernandes said YGC aims to foster and preserve Goan identity and heritage by welcoming, involving and uniting members of all sectors of the Goan community in Bahrain in an inclusive approach. said.
